A sunny day in Dublin and a Confession

A sunny day in Dublin

A sunny day in Dublin by fromkate

This morning looks promising. After (surprise, surprise) the wettest and coldest July in Ireland for 40 years, this Thursday  the skies seem to be defending themselves against all the complaints and have brought some much needed brightness to the streets. Rain is forecast for later, but at the moment it feels like it might not come and I have high hopes that picking up a bubble tea on my way into work and wearing open-toe sandals and sunglasses could be the order for the day.

You might have noticed that the blog has been a little quiet over the past few weeks. To tell you the truth, I'm still finding my voice over here. It feels like there's so much to write about and so much that has already been said that I keep feeling a bit foggy about where I want to take this space, what I want to write about, what to engage with, what to draw attention to, and what to discuss. I don't want to try too hard to form a niche identity and impose it on this blog because I'm sure that (for me) that will feel forced and insincere, so I'm planning on flying by the seat of my pants for a while... and I really do hope that you'll stay around for the ride.

Stay at Home Monday

Stay at Home Monday

It's a public holiday over here today, so I'm making the most of it by staying at home, wearing stretchy clothes, wrapping myself up in a blanket and reading Bleak House while I drink relaxing tea. A little bit of r&r is exactly what I feel like indulging in after a draining week (and this incident - my head is still so sore!)

Have you seen these soy candles by Tatine? I love the little notes that describe their names and scents. 'Bron Yr Aur' sounds perfect for this grey Monday: 'stone cottage in the welsh countryside. rain drops + moss. as we walk down country lanes in a landscape where magic fills the air'.

Tuesday Night at the Concert Hall

Tuesday Night at the Concert Hall

Tuesday Night at the Concert Hall by fromkate

Bit of a catch up needed this week (oops I was too busy having fun!) On Tuesday night I went to watch the Britten Sinfonia at the Concert Hall. It was very relaxing, like a massage for the ears. I feel like it would have been the perfect occasion for pale pink lipstick, that skirt and those shoes.

Flying Home for the Weekend

flying home for the weekend

flying home for the weekend by fromkate featuring zip bags

Today I'm flying over to England to visit my parents for a long weekend. I have to wake up at 4am to catch my plane (eeks). In an ideal world I'd travel wearing huge sunglasses (to hide the 4am eyes) and carry a vintage passport holder. I'd read expensive magazines on the plane, and drink a superfood smoothie because it's too early for a proper breakfast. In the real world, the only part of this that will probably materialize is the not eating breakfast part. Never mind.

Friday Feelings

Tonight I plan on drinking a big glass of red wine and putting my feet up. It's one of those weekends where I have nothing planned. Maybe it will involve lying on the sofa and starting a new book, or huddling up in bed watching movies and drinking tea. There must be something in the wet, grey January air, because I seem to have lost any interest in leaving the apartment. Hope you have a fun time this weekend, whether your inside or out!

Love these 4 weekend outfits. My favourite is Melissa's (above), so cosy and chic.

How are your workouts going at the moment? Maybe some motivation will help.

Dickens's London in Pictures. Wow.

A video that makes me wish I lived in a bookshop.

This week I had a sleepless night. Here are some handy tips to help you sleep better.

Read about a ballerina's Sunday routine.

Looking forward to seeing this film at the cinema tonight so very much. The trailer looks amazing, as does Meryl. Happy Wednesday!
